Cheap driving lessons are not just about the price, but about the way you learn to drive. Cheap driving lessons do not have to be poor quality driving instruction.
If you see one driving lesson advertised at £30 & another at £15 you might assume that the £15 is of poor quality. But what would you think if the £30 driving lesson was for one full hour & the £15 driving lesson was for a half hour driving lesson.

Why do 500,000 drivers fail their driving test first time?
Your cheap driving lessons do not need to be perfect
Over one million drivers take their driving test every year. Over 500,000 drivers fail their driving test first time. If the driving test was treated as school or college exams, in terms of results, then there would be a lot to answer for in our education system.
What is the difference between a driving test
and an institutional exam?
Exams at college or school are geared towards a positive outcome. Teachers, students and examining bodies are all pulling in the same direction and targets have to be met. Hence reasonably high marks can be achieved. You are also taught mainly to memorise specific areas relevant to your exams. [You learn mainly to pass exams, you are not necessarily fully knowledgeable in that subject]
The driving test and driving lessons are pulling in opposite directions. 'How is this possible?' You might say. Since driving instructors have to be registered with the DSA and driving examiners are paid by the DSA.
The difference is MONEY. At college you pay an annual fee, the educational institution pays the lecturers salary and you study and take your lessons never thinking of the cost. You can put total focus on your exams & study through the night if you have to at no extra cost to you, other than your time.
With driving lessons you are focused on the cost, since you have to pay for each driving lesson including all practice driving lessons. That's why cheap driving lessons appear to be an attractive deal. Especially if you think you are going to need a lot of driving lessons.
Driving instructors are very familiar with the phrase
'I've had so many lessons, and its cost so much money. I need to take my driving test.'
Would you cut your lessons short at college just before your final exam, because you had to pay for each lesson? Probably not.

Perfect cheap driving lessons in Birmingham
There is no such thing as the perfect driver. To pass your driving test though it seems you do have to be perfect. Or do you?
Maybe you just need to get it right.
So what is right?
You must be safe and you must know what you are doing in terms of car control and road procedures.
People appear to fail their driving test on a simple thing like forgetting a signal or not checking a blindspot, even though they manage to, or appear to, on their driving lessons? Simple enough to think about, but was that the real reason you failed your driving test? Or was your driving examiner being to harsh?
Did you check your blindspot to early, to late, at the same time as you moved off, after your signal, before your signal, after selecting your driving away gear, before selecting your driving away gear. Did you not look round far enough, or did you not act upon what you saw in your blindspot. Maybe it was not the blindspot before driving away from the kerb that was missing, it could have been the blindspot you should have checked after waiting to turn right? When should you have checked your blind spot!!!!?
A professional driving instructor would be the right person to advise you as there are many ways as you can see that could cause a blindspot fault and this is not made clear on your driving test report.
Cheap driving lessons
Cheap driving lessons do not necessarily mean poor quality driving instruction. If you think you are not progressing lesson by lesson in the right direction then change your driving instructor, or if that's to drastic ask your instuctor to clarify where you are with your drive training at the moment & where do you need to be.
If your driving instructor gives you reasonable answers to your questions, then it maybe that there are other reasons why you are not progressing. If you get the answer that you need more practice & it is not defined as to what practice, then you need to find another driving instructor, as your cheap driving lessons may not be so cheap after all.
Cheap driving lessons & good driving instructors
When your driving lessons are given to you by a good qualified driving instructor, you can actually mark your own test report. By that I mean you have a good idea whether you have passed your driving test before the driving examiner tells you. A lot of my students are asked by the driving examiner, before giving out their result, what they thought their driving faults were.
After my students have completed a driving lesson and they have had sufficient driving lessons to understand what is the correct way to drive and what is not, I ask them to let me know how their lesson went. Most of my students can explain their faults quite accurately.
Therefore if a fault occurs on your driving lessons and is understood, you are less likely to make the same mistake over and over again.

Your cheap driving lessons
Your cheap driving lessons need not be cheap quality. I know of many good driving instructors who are very competitive with their driving lesson price & give good quality driving lessons.
At the other end of the scale I know of driving lessons that are by no means cheap & their driving instruction is ver poor.
How many driving lessons?
How many cheap driving lessons will you need? There are not an exact number of driving lessons that any one person will need. This will vary from student to student. Should you manage to understand all that you are taught first time, then you will need about 20 one hour driving lessons to just cover the syllabus. But then on top of that you will need to practice all that you have been taught a few times, to get it right.
This would add another 20 one hour lessons. Making 40 in all from start to finish. But there are many other points to consider, such as the teaching standards of your driving instructor, where you live, how often do you have your lessons (1 hour per week would mean more lessons or 30 hours in a week would mean less driving lessons)
You can contact me and ask about your specific driving lesson requirements in the Birmingham area. You can also look at the DSA driving lesson guidelines for the number of driving lessons the average person will need before being capable of passing a driving test.
